Here's what the judges had to say:
Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke - QuickstepDance:
Rob encourages Cheryl to be harsh in her criticisms in rehearsals as he realises how important it is to get the routine exactly right in order to maintain his high standing in the competition. Cheryl agrees, correcting him on small missteps in order to perfect the dance.
Len admitted that he had reservations because of the "terrible" opening section but thinks that once Rob got into the correct position, his posture was good, deeming it his best dance so far.
Bruno says that it was "speedier than a drag race", praising his lines as well as his "clean and neat" footwork. "It was incredible!" he adds. Carrie Ann agrees, calling him the "ideal contestant" and the routine "elegant and light on the feet". She applauds him for continuing to make dramatic improvements with his performances week after week. Score:
27 out of 30
Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - QuickstepDance:
Maks wants to get down to business after describing last week as "ridiculous", though he takes responsibility for what went wrong. Hope admits that she has too many insecurities on the dance floor and needs more support from Maks, asking to "turn down the intensity" and enjoy themselves instead of being too competitive.
Bruno thinks it was "rebooted, re-energized and radiant", calling it her best dance yet and saying that she has never looked so good. Carrie Ann offers her a congratulatory hug, praising Maks for his choreography and praising the "joy and love" between the pair.
Len loves that it was fast and energetic, dubbing it a "mix of speed and control" and saying that Hope has finally fulfilled her potential. Score:
26 out of 30
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough - WaltzDance:
Derek lectures Ricki on holding her shoulders as she is visibly anxious. Ricki confesses that she is over-tired and stressed out by the pressure of the later stages of the competition, but seeks the advice and encouragement of season 11 winner Jennifer Grey
. The meeting is a positive one and inspires Ricki to "keep it up" and push herself further.
Carrie Ann says that while she stumbled a little at the end, her movements were "exquisite", as was her shaping. "When you dance, you lose yourself completely!" she adds.
Len jokes that her last name should not be Lake but "River", saying that it flowed beautifully and was lovely to watch. He admits that his heart wants to give her a 10, but that he can't do so until she completely masters her footwork. Bruno calls it "artistically flowing", applauding her for her wonderful ability to translate the emotion of the piece and dubbing it "absolutely beautiful". Score:
28 out of 30
Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus - TangoDance:
Nancy vows to make a comeback after falling into the bottom two last week, saying that failure doesn't get her down. She and Tristan clash during rehearsals, with Nancy admitting that she finds it hard to keep her mouth shut as she is convinced that she has good ideas. However, she eventually relents and allows him to guide her.
Len says that she has been on a plateau since week two but that she has finally gone up with this week's performance. Bruno agrees, admitting that he is "shocked" by seeing her become a "brazen Jezebel" and praising her for getting the attitude of the piece down.
Carrie Ann loves her "spirit", calling her the "friskiest little girl" she's ever seen. She also applauds the "cleaner" movements this week but faults Nancy for not pointing her toes and missing a few of the steps throughout. Score:
24 out of 30
JR Martinez and Karina Smirnoff - WaltzDance:
JR struggles to hold to correct posture in rehearsals, angering Karina, who claims that he needs to shape up or be prepared to go home. JR admits that he knows goofing off angers her but insists that it's the only way he can learn the routine. However, they both eventually get down to work, paying close attention to the details in order to deliver a performance that's as close to perfect as possible.
"It was like a musical Valentine card! You danced with your heart on your sleeve!" raves Bruno, calling it "divine" and praising him for making beautiful music with Karina. Carrie Ann thinks that he always demonstrates "grace and fluidity", but thinks that it transformed itself into something magical in the middle of the performance. She thanks him for sharing the performance with everyone.
Len admits that JR retreated last week, but loves that he came back "all guns blazing" this week and proved what a great dancer he is. Score:
30 out of 30
Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke - Instant Jive to 'Maneater' by Hall & OatesDance:
Rob has a hard time keeping his stamina up for the high-energy jive and also struggles to prepare during rehearsals without knowing the song they will perform to. However, Cheryl reiterates the importance of mastering the moves and the pair try to do what they can.
Len says that there were "no glaring mistakes", applauding them for doing a great job considering the small amount of time they had to prepare. Bruno agrees, saying that his arm holds are getting better but admitting that he needs to work on the "kicks" in the performance.
Carrie Ann thinks that they did a great job getting the tempo right in short notice and loves that Rob is "in control on the dancefloor" but does think that he needs to point his toes more and be a little more careful of his movements. Score:
24 out of 30
Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - Instant Jive to 'The Best Damn Thing' by Avril LavigneDance:
In rehearsals, Maks suggests that they do as much of the routine as possible before finding out their track. Hope is nervous as she has not had a good experience with the jive in the past, but Maks begins to lose patience when she fails to get down the quick footwork. However, Hope insists that she will do better with the genre this time around.
Bruno calls it "the fast and the furious", likening her to a wild child and praising the high attitude and energy but advising her to stretch her back and knees in order to keep her weight on her toes.
Carrie Ann thinks that there was a definite improvement from the last jive and gives them credit for the fast footwork. However, she does think there was something "a little crazy" with Hope's hand movements. Len disagrees with both of his fellow panelists, calling it "fantastic" and "bloody brilliant" and insisting that it had every element of a perfect jive. Score:
25 out of 30
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough - Instant Jive to Wilson Pickett's 'Land of 1000 Dances'Dance:
Ricki hopes that the dance will be easy because she has succeeded with the jive before and has confidence because of it. However, she is nervous with not knowing her music and tries hard to keep up with the quick footwork. She vows to stay calm and have fun with it regardless.
Carrie Ann is wowed, saying that while there were a few false starts but loving her high energy and appreciating that she got right back into it when she messed up. Len thinks that she coped very well with having two such different dances on the same night, calling it "good" but agreeing with Carrie Ann about the few mistakes.
Bruno thinks that some sections didn't flow together as well as they could have but insists that it wasn't terrible and that everyone has nights that are imperfect. Score:
24 out of 30
Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus - Instant Jive to 'Upside Down' by Diana RossDance:
Tristan tries to reassure Nancy as it's the first instant dance he has ever performed as well and they can go through it together. She is panicked, though, and struggles to get the movements down, eventually causing a slight argument between the pair. However, they press on and continue to try and master the moves, with Nancy vowing to "jive [her] heart out".
Len says that Nancy represents the Cinderella story for lasting so long in the competition but declares that it's "now midnight and it's time to go home" after that performance. Bruno says that the jive should be tight and energetic but thinks it was too laid back and loose for the genre.
Carrie Ann agrees that she got lost in the choreography but appreciates that she trusts Tristan to lead her, claiming that the chemistry between the pair is often what saves them. Score:
20 out of 30
JR Martinez and Karina Smirnoff - Instant Jive to Little Richard's 'Tutti Frutti'Dance:
JR wants to make sure that he redeems himself after his low score earlier in the competition when doing the jive. In order to do so, Karina separates the movements down in order to make sure that they can adapt the movements to the song when they find out what it is later. JR admits that he wants everyone to think that he "killed it" when he finally hits the dancefloor.
Bruno says that he was "off like a rocket", cheering on the quick movements as well as his "sensational" side kicks and "Impeccable" timing. "You've got it, man!" he adds. Carrie Ann agrees, saying that he's in a class all of his own and insisting that no one else has come close to the couple tonight.
Len thinks that they have the X factor and the feel good factor mixed together and praises them for coming out with "the most fantastic jive" possible. Score:
