It's been a long season on American Idol, and it all comes down to this. Tonight, either Jessica Sanchez or Phillip Phillips will be crowned the winner during a mega two-hour broadcast. While Digital Spy readers have backed Sanchez for the victory following last night's final performances, it's anyone's guess as to who will take the title.

22:04Alright, I've had enough of this nonsense. That's it for American Idol, guys - hope you enjoyed the ride!
22:03To take out the show, Phillip gets to sing that Mumford & Sons song 'Home' - oh wait, I mean his new, totally original single. Groan.
22:02Phillip Phillips! Told you it was going to happen. A girl will not win this competition until all conventionally unattractive guys enter the competition. Way to go, teenage girls. You're terrible.
22:01Alright, after a record-breaking 132 million votes, the winner of American Idol's eleventh season is...
22:01Phillip says it's been an "awesome' journey on the show every week and thanks the fans for giving him the opportunity to perform, while Jessica agrees, applauding the Idol crew and her fans for voting.
21:58Uh, it's two minutes to the end of the broadcast, but apparently we have time for another performance - Jessica and Phillip are singing 'Up Where We Belong' by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes because... this is totally necessary. Not.
21:48I love that Joe Perry has had such a change of heart when he totally trashed Idol when Steven first joined the show. Now all of a sudden he's up there schilling with the best of them. You go, Joe Perry.
21:48Because there are fifteen minutes left in the broadcast and we can't just GET TO THE RESULTS ALREADY, we have another performer. Guess who it is this time? AEROSMITH! YEAH!!! (Was that enough feigned enthusiasm for you?)
21:40Wait, Jessica is back to sing again, and now she gets her duet partner - Jennifer Holliday. They're doing 'And I Am Telling You'... this song is killer, and Jessica is really impressive. For any singer to be able to do this song is a feat, but at 16? Damn.
21:39They start off with 'How Deep Is Your Love' and then moves on to 'How Do You Mend a Broken Heart' before getting to 'To Love Somebody'.
21:36Due to Robin Gibb's recent passing, the male finalists (minus Phillip) have come together to do a little Bee Gees medley. That's actually alright - the first useful thing they've done all night. It's not very good, mind, but it's the thought that counts, that's what they say, right?
21:29Jordin Sparks joins Hollie on stage, as does a full choir. Well, okay.
21:28At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, Diana is only 24 and I don't think she should be getting married. I don't think anyone should get married at that age! I also think that Ace needs a haircut. But anyway, Hollie is onstage again to sing 'Never Walk Alone'. Aw, little Hollie. I hope she gets a deal and makes at least one flop album before fading back into obscurity - she is quite talented!
21:26Lots of Idol alums in the house tonight. Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young are called on stage - they're a couple, in case you forgot - and of course he's going to propose to her. Diana makes a bunch of exaggerated theatre faces (you can tell she's been on Broadway now) as he says that he wants to make their relationship last forever and gets down on bended knee to ask her to marry him. Of course she says yes.
21:20Next up, J-Lo sings 'Follow the Leader' with Wisin & Yandel. It's an okay song, but listen, she's fierce. She can do whatever.
21:15Guess who's performing now? Jennifer Lopez! She's singing two songs tonight. First up, it's 'Goin' In'... she's got a full dance team and is dressed in a sparkly silver tracksuit type thing and this song is pretty awful, but whatever.
21:12Time to look back on Randy's Idol season and make fun of the fact that he says the same thing every single week - most notably "you could sing the phonebook". So they've taken a video of the Top 12 actually... singing entries from the phonebook. That's pretty hilarious, actually... and then of course, they make fun of Joshua's tendency to overdo it as he gets caught up in a rift of a particular phone number. LOL, though. Well played, guys.
21:04Now, it's time for the Top 6 guys to sing. They start off with Neil Diamond's 'Coming to America'. Ha, is Neil Diamond there? Next up, they tackle 'Cracklin' Rosie' and 'I'm a Believer'. And yep, here comes Neil with 'Sweet Caroline'. Wow, Idol. Really booking the relevant stars these days, aren't we?
21:00Incidentally, she didn't sing with anyone. Uh... what a rip off.
20:58Jessica Sanchez is back on stage to sing 'I Will Always Love You' - interesting. I wonder who she'll be singing with? Really a shame Whitney Houston is gone :(
20:56Time for another video feature that covers... Steven Tyler's dressing room, which is actually a full trailer filled with Playboy bunnies and A SLOTH! Awww. Ha ha ha! Steven is an absolute mess. I love that he's carrying this sloth around as he shows off his letters from Paul McCartney and other assorted crap.
20:52Aw, look, it's my girl Skylar Laine! She's singing Reba McEntire's 'Turn on the Radio'... with Reba herself! I love it. I only wish they sang 'Fancy', then this would be complete. Is Skylar signed yet? Come on.
20:45I love this song - it's a great tune. Rihanna has decided to sport some fake dreadlocks tonight, which actually... aren't awful. I love Rihanna, I can't help myself. I think she's great, particularly because she doesn't give a s**t what anybody thinks.
20:43Jessica and Phil are also getting a Ford Fusion each. Whatever. It's time for QUEEN RIRI... that's right, Rihanna is here to perform 'Where Have You Been'. That's what I call entertainment.
20:42Yep, they each get a new Ford Escape. That wasn't predictable at all. See, people? It pays to be nice to young people. If they make it to the American Idol final, you might get a car!
20:41Feel free to go get a snack here, it's just more filler - Phil and Jessica are talking about the mentors in their personal lives as part of this Ford thing, so I assume they're getting free cars. I'll keep you apprised.
20:40I hope you didn't think you were going to get away from these god-awful Ford commercials. 'COS YOU AREN'T! It's time for the last one of the season, starring the entire Top 12.
20:36Side note: I love that Jane Lynch is in the audience and had the most unbridled joyous reaction possible to the performance.
20:34Now it's time for the ladies of the Top 12 to take the stage - Jessica, Hollie, Skylar, Erika Van Pelt, Elise Testone and Shannon Magrane (LOL remember her?) are doing a little medley of Chaka Khan songs. The first is 'Ain't Nobody', the second is 'Through the Fire', followed by 'I'm Every Woman'. But hey, guess what - Chaka Khan herself is there! She can barely get out the overcoat covering her brown sparkly bodysuit but once she does, she kills it, of course. Damn, Chaka. Get it!
20:29To waste more time, Jimmy Iovine has apparently made a "love letter" in video form - basically he can't get Jennifer's name right in the VTs when talking about the contestants earlier in the season. He keeps calling her "Jessica" instead. What's the point of this?
20:22Auditions are starting this summer for the next season of Idol - June 7 in Los Angeles are the first ones. Get yourself there and maybe you'll be the one I make fun of next year.
Speak of the devil, here comes Joshua Ledet! He's singing Elton John's 'Take Me to the Pilot'... with Fantasia Barrino, the "biggest inspiration of [his] life". No wonder - she's a screamer rather than a singer, as well. I mean, this is painful. They're both literally just shouting at the top of their lungs the entire time. Absolute rubbish. If Van Gogh lived today, I'd understand why he cut off his ear. Zing.
20:18Since we've got time to waste, how about we take a look at a clip show of some of the judges' bloopers from earlier this season? I do love a good blooper, me.
20:16Oh, but wait, they're not done! Now they're doing 'Bad Moon Rising'. I have to be honest, I'm completely zoning out during their performance. I'm finding it incredibly boring. Good for Phillip as I'm sure this is a dream of his, but dear me. This is primetime TV? No, it's a show you'd get into for free at a West Village bar so long as you met the two drink minimum. No thanks.
20:13It's time for a performance! It's Phillip Phillips and Credence Clearwater Revival's 'John Fogerty - they're singing 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain', and hey, there's Carrie Underwood bopping her head. Carrie Underwood is everywhere, lately. And I still love her new single, 'Blown Away', just for the record.
20:07132 million votes came in last night - what's wrong with you people?
20:06As if the performance itself wasn't enough of a mess, they were singing Bruno Mars' 'Runaway Baby'. Oh, brother. Anyway, here come the judges. J-Lo looks AMAZING in this sparkly mini-dress and even Ryan Seacrest looks dapper in his little tux. I say "little" cos he's like, 4'11", right?
20:04There now seems to be a group of black-clad dancers... who knows who they are or where they came from (or what they have to do with this finale) - they're not even very good... quite sloppy. Is this some high school thing?
20:03To kick things off, it's the Top 12! They're all there, including my main man Joshua Ledet. Love you, Joshy!!! I'm also too lazy to list the rest of 'em, but I'm sure you remember who they are. Hollie Cavanagh, Colton Dixon, Mr Curly Sue (DeAndre Brackensick), SKYLAR LAINE, etc. You get the hint.
20:01Well, here we go - one final time together. Are you all sad? Should we group hug? It's also time to crown a winner during a two-hour broadcast that could've been done in a 30 minute one, but who's counting? One last ride, for old time's sake, shall we?
