'Gossip Girl': 'It Girl, Interrupted' recap

Another episode, another party in the world of Gossip Girl and another week where Serena can act solely for her own interests. But in 'It Girl, Interrupted', Ms van der Woodsen takes things to a new recent low.Serena spends nearly the entire episode being coldly manipulative in her quest to remove the 'It Girl' shackles put on by Gossip Girl. Last week, she played the 'family' card with Lola to get what she wanted. This week, she attempts to push Lola into the social spotlight, again for her own benefit, while using the power of Gossip Girl to her advantage.
I've not been a fan of Lola (Ella Rae Peck) so far and her growing desperation to prove herself against Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) didn't help, but the twist that Nate and Lola were working together all along to get at Diana was actually neat.

Serena becomes even more unbearable when she accuses Lola of using her. Pot, kettle, black. Nice job being super-hypocritical, S. I took extra delight in seeing Serena get her comeuppance when Lola becomes the new big thing - though learning that Lola staged the firefighter photo may feel slightly out of character.
Serena caps off the episode by keeping hold of Gossip Girl. After going to great lengths to try to break free from Gossip Girl, she now wants to stay in the public eye. The fact that this was the dominating storyline makes this instalment lacklustre. Lead characters, on a show like Gossip Girl, have to be somewhat likeable or relatable.
Thank goodness, then, for more Blair and Dan. The couple continue to be endearing, and while I won't rehash all of the glowing things I said about them in last week's recap, they do overcome a rather needless obstacle in the form of Blair and Louis's divorce papers.
Blair is struggling to let go of her princess dream, but there was a great payoff once again when Dan helped Blair feel like a princess at the end - right down to the tiara and the swarm of young fans. The pairing still feels new - Dan's nice guy charm makes for a distinct and very welcome change to Blair's previous hook-ups. May it continue for a long while yet.

Chuck had an eventful episode despite not getting much screen time. The fact that he paid Blair's dowry becomes common knowledge (and gives Blair/Chuck fans some hope for the future), while he discovers that Elizabeth is not actually his mother.
Elsewhere, Diana admitted that she still has feelings for Nate (though he's probably better off with someone like Lola) and Lily and Rufus have a falling out when the former, showing that conniving runs in her family, manipulates Ivy into giving up the apartment for free. Rufus, showing that niceness runs in his family, refuses to support Lily's move and stays put at his loft.
'It Girl, Interrupted' was a bit of a disappointment compared to last week, but it's saved by Blair and Dan. It's one of the best things to have happened in a long while to Gossip Girl, and the next episode sounds like it could be a blast with the duo's first public outing...

GG still struggling in the ratings in the US on The CW network. Thank god their freshman shows have bombed too and therefore get a final 13 EP season 6

Aww thank you to who made this review/recap, last week's was great too. And I LOVE the part at the end and I couldn't agree more, they really are an endearing and refreshing couple, not forgetting to mention how happy they make each other :) looking forward to next weeks episode and recap on here!
