The showrunner revealed that the writers had first spoken about Deborah's (Jennifer Carpenter) romantic feelings for her brother Dexter (Michael C Hall) in the programme's early days, adding that the plot line was always a part of Deborah's character.
"It's an idea that has been talked about in the writer's room, I think, from at least season two," Buck told The Wrap.
"It just felt like those kind of feelings were very integral to the character of Deborah, that she was in love with her brother without even realising it. It's something we'd always talked about and it just felt like it was time to finally deal with that issue."
Hall recently confessed that he does not believe that Dexter can possibly have a happy ending, adding that he is still uncertain of how the Showtime series will end.
Dexter was renewed for two further seasons in November. The show recently concluded its sixth run.

If they kill Deb - that's me done with it. Debra ******* Morgan is 75% of the reason I watch!

I would not be surprised if Deb Morgan ends up dead pretty soon in Season 7 after the climax in end of season 6. We shall see good season, not the best but good.

The ending of season 6 was executed perfectly. It's pretty obvious Dexter is approaching end game, but I'm sure it'll go out with a bang in two years, if that is the case.

I still think the ending of Season 6 had something to do with them getting divorced, without giving it away, would she even appear in the next season?
But yes it isn't incest even if it was to happen.
