Ian Somerhalder on Elena's choice: 'Damon would react like roadrunner'

Ian Somerhalder has suggested that Damon would not be able to contain his happiness if Elena chose him on The Vampire Diaries.

The 33-year-old revealed that Damon would be thrilled if Elena (Nina Dobrev) decided to be with him, but insisted that his character would get over it if she chose Stefan (Paul Wesley) instead.


"He'd probably run around the streets of Mystic Falls like the roadrunner," Somerhalder told The Hollywood Reporter.

"If she doesn't, it's going to take a couple days, a couple bottles of booze, a couple sorority girls. He'll get back on track, but every time he's around her, he'll still feel that same thing.

"While her and Stefan are sitting having steak dinner, holding hands, he'll just be in the corner seething."

Executive producer Julie Plec confirmed earlier this month that Elena will make a decision between the Salvatore brothers in the third season finale.

She recently insisted that Damon and Elena are drawn to each other, but confessed that there is something holding Elena back from acting on her attraction to Damon.

The season finale of The Vampire Diaries airs May 10 at 8pm on The CW.
