Liane Balaban cast as Sam Winchester's love interest on 'Supernatural'

Liane Balaban has joined the cast of Supernatural as a recurring character on its eighth season.Balaban is set to play Amelia, a new love interest for Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki), reports Entertainment Weekly.

Her character is said to have a hard time moving on from a tragedy in her past, but she is "brave, sweet and sarcastic".
The series will air in a new time slot when it returns on Wednesday, October 8 at 9pm ET on The CW.
Balaban's television credits include Numb3rs, Covert Affairs, NCIS: Los Angeles and Alphas.

Oh, she'll be popular. Female characters on Supernatural always are. Can't possibly imagine her becoming monster bait after the fans basically riot.

So, will this one be a demon/big-bad-of-the-week or will she be killed suddenly? Those are the two standard Supernatural plot twists.
