True Blood creator Alan Ball has confirmed that Rutina Wesley will remain on the show. Ball revealed that the actress's character Tara will feature in forthcoming episodes, despite being shot in the head in the season four finale.

"Tara is still a part of the show," he told TV Guide. "I'm sure fans have a lot of different ideas of how that could be possible, and one of those ideas is correct."
Asked for more details on how Tara will return, Wesley teased: "I can tell you that Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander SkarsgÄrd) can't come running to rescue [Tara]. They just killed a member of the Authority, so they're going to have a big mess to clean up themselves, so Sookie's (Anna Paquin) going to have to figure this out on her own."

He continued: "That's going to be the interesting part to watch: Tara's reaction to Sookie and Sookie's reaction to Tara. All I can say is it's charged."
It was recently confirmed that Alfre Woodard will return to True Blood as Ruby Jean Reynolds, the schizophrenic mother of Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis).
True Blood season five premieres on HBO on June 10 and on FX in the UK later this year.

Does anyone read the books? Part of what makes this show fun is comparing the books and the show. Tara can't die unless the writers of this show are SUPER creative because so much depends on her living...for now.

I can't think of any storyline that Tara is really essential for from the books? JB doesn't even exist, and I can barely remember anything Tara actually did.

Ugh, the prospect of finally getting rid of Tara was the best thing about the finale. Hopefully whatever she turns out to be will be so horrendous that she'll be unable to cope and have to be killed off. I'd rather have Debbie Pelt back than Tara.
