"Nobody in our universe has super powers, so that's a big jumping off point," he explained. "I think we find Oliver Queen more injured than we saw him before."
Amell also sought to distance his performance from that of Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow on The CW's Smallville between 2006 and 2011.
"Other than in name, there are virtually no similarities between [his version and mine]," he claimed. "It's not to say that one's better than the other, it's just that they're so different, it's almost weird to compare them."

Hartley - who will next be seen in The CW's Emily Owens, MD - previously insisted that he has not offered Amell any advice on how to tackle his Arrow role.
"[Stephen] doesn't need any tips from me," he claimed. "I wouldn't even begin to do that… He's going to be great."
Arrow will debut on The CW this fall, paired with Supernatural on Wednesday nights.

ermmm shouldn't they want to attract viewers? Surely trying to get Smallvilles fan base on side would achieve this? Trying to stay away from the superhero genre isn't a good idea after all once the teen girls grow up who's gonna watch it if not the comic fans? The best thing Smallville ever did was go more towards the comic book fans from season 7-10 as they were the majority fans who stayed from season 1-10 and that was Superman...I mean who outside of comic book fans really wants to see Green Arrow let alone one that has nothing to do with the DC universe.

A superhero adaptation, without super heroes? What was the point of this? Pass.
