Asked how she thought her predecessor would react to The Carrie Diaries, Robb revealed that she has been in contact with the 46-year-old and received her blessing.
"She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too," Robb told US Weekly. "She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!"
Robb added that she is still working on perfecting her performance, explaining: "We've been doing a lot of rehearsals this week, and I've been watching the show and really trying to click with the character.
"I know everyone's going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we're never going to be that. The show is more for my generation."
The Carrie Diaries pilot was ordered by The CW back in January.
Its cast includes Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Austin Butler (Life Unexpected), Katie Findlay (The Killing), Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World) and Brendan Dooling.
