The second season has been attracting higher ratings with each episode in the US, with last night's episode being its most watched yet with 1.75m viewers.
The ratings are even higher in the UK, where the season one finale attracted nearly 3m viewers. Channel 4 had already acquired the rights to a potential season three before it was announced.
Homeland also recently swept the top awards at the Primetime Emmys, winning the 'Lead Actor' (Damian Lewis), 'Lead Actress' (Danes) and 'Outstanding Drama' accolades.
Showtime president David Nevins said: "The Emmy wins for Homeland have certainly set the stage for a great second season.
"The writers, cast and crew of Homeland continue to create a remarkably entertaining and suspenseful roller coaster ride, growing audiences week after week."

I think the Abu Nazir threat should be neutralised by the end of Season 3. Have Brody go double agent obviously and they resolve Abu Nazir, then move on to another threat/storyline as it kinda stretches it too thin to just have one plot dragged out, having said that...it did take them 10 years to get Bin Laden lol

So...in 5 -6 years times what would be better - this or 24? 24 had the same love hysteria earlier on then once it dragged on the people I knew that loved it slatted it and denied ever liking it(See the same for Homeland?).

If Homeland pull the same twist as 24(season 5) with the president in on it (VP for Homeland) i'm out. Knowing Damien Lewis has signed on for 5 years he has to have a similar twist to be good sooner than later. The airstike that motivated Brody was probably an attempt on him not Abu Nazir by the VP as he knew too much. They are focusing too much on Brody's fellow soldiers - hope they all didn't do some stupid black op<Why Brody & Walker got captured. I'm just yet to be surprised - I presume most people that are have never watched 24 or read a Tom Clancy book.

WHAT??? I love it but how can they drag this on for another series?

Because they don't just have to run with one storyline.

Quantity over Quality. I hope they can sustain this for another season.

Well, they planned a seven season arc so lets hope so

I just want to see it all finished. Is that bad? I love the show but I don't want to see it dragged on.
