NBC is considering launching the show early, in the aftermath of its 2012 Olympics coverage, reports Deadline.

Go On will star Friends actor Perry as a sportscaster who suffers a personal loss and bonds with his fellow group members in therapy.

The pilot received an early pick-up to series last month, with writers expected to convene next week.

Returning paranormal drama Grimm - renewed by NBC in March - would also premiere in August, with work already underway on new episodes.

The show currently airs on Fridays at 9pm on NBC, with the first season scheduled to conclude on May 18.

Meanwhile, the network's reality hit The Voice and Broadway drama Smash are also expected to return in the fall.
