has opened up about his role on Grimm
The actor plays a reformed werewolf (known as "blutbads" on the show) named Monroe that helps detective Nick (David Giuntoli) solve cases.
He insisted that the NBC series is different from Twilight
, saying that his wolf is nothing like Taylor Lautner's Jacob.
"I am very much the anti-Twilight
wolf," Mitchell told the Los Angeles Times
. "And I'm not taking my shirt off all the time, which I'm sure will be a relief to many people."
He went on to express his enthusiasm at portraying the supernatural character.
"Monroe is so cool," Mitchell said. "The great thing about the character for me is the inner conflict, which is sort of inherently traumatic because I am blutbad."
He continued: "I've forsworn my depraved ways, and I'm trying to be a good blutbad. That's really fun to play with."
In September, Grimm
producer David Greenwalt claimed that the show will "turn the fairytale on its head"
He previously described the show's first season
as "dark" with "tragic episodes".Grimm
premieres on NBC on October 28 and will air on Watch in the UK in early 2012.
