'Bachelor Pad' recap: Kissing contest, Melissa becomes upset with Blake
Published Aug 30 2011, 12:45 BST | By Lara Martin Bachelor Pad
opens right where we left off last week with Kasey getting the final rose and Jake getting his marching orders
. The latter, however, has something to say before he departs the mansion. He advises the remaining players that they need to vote off the power couples if they want to have any chance of winning the $250,000.
He adds: "Kasey, amazing meeting you. Vienna, my apologies. In my heart - forgiven."
Jake says in the limousine that he isn't heartbroken at leaving the show because he came to find closure and forgiveness with Vienna and that happened. He's actually "kind of glad to be out of that f**king crazy house".
Back inside, Vienna and Kasey are thrilled by Jake's departure. Vienna's new plan is to ensure she and Kasey, Michael and Holly, Graham and Michelle and Kirk and Ella make it to the end. Ella and Erica, however, aren't so impressed by the power couple and their belief they have control over the game. > Bachelor Pad's Vienna Girardi: 'I'll get married to Kasey Kahl'> Bachelor Pad's Kasey on serenading Vienna: 'It was just a funny moment'Challenge - Bachelor Pad kissing contest
Chris Harrison's announcement that this week's challenge is a kissing competition is greeted with a mixed reaction. Michelle decides not to participate because she wants to be a "good example" to her 6-year-old daughter.
Holly is the first to be blindfolded and kissed by all the men. Michael isn't having much fun watching, particularly when Blake goes in for a proper make-out. He also gets into it with Ella ("It was one of those baby-making kisses," she later says) but takes a more conservative approach with Vienna because he can "feel Kasey's eyes on the back of his head".
The men don the blindfolds next and Ella is determined to win: "It's all about a little bit of pressure then you pull back, then a little bit of sucking on the lips, then you pull back, then a little bit of tongue but not too much tongue." Erica is also eager to win: "I definitely have good lips which I maintain by getting injections every six months."
Kasey doesn't fare as well among the women because, as Erica says, all the girls think he has "really bad breath". Holly, meanwhile, is finding her kiss with Michael has brought back old sparks, but equally she doesn't want her kiss with Blake to end...
It's time for the results and Ella and Blake have won with an "overwhelming majority of the votes". Michael is now concerned that with a date rose in hand, Blake might now make a move on Holly, particularly because this week is about one-on-one dates.Ella's date with Kirk
Ella and Kirk hop into a red sports car outside the mansion (Ella drives) and zoom off to a dinner of pizza and s'mores by a fireplace. They talk about Ella's life as a single mum (Kirk understands because his parents divorced when he was young) and Kirk's recovery from his previous life-threatening illness. His story prompts Ella to open up about witnessing her mother's death when she was 3. She gives him the rose and they end the date by taking a romantic hot air balloon ride and kissing under the stars.Who will Blake take on his date?
Back at the house, Melissa is excited about her date with Blake. The only problem is that, despite their partnership, he hasn't actually invited her and would rather take Holly. Erica feels sorry for Blake because he aligned himself with Melissa so she offers him a massage out in the garden and attempts to form a partnership (and get the date - and ultimately the rose).
Blake goes with his heart and offers the date to Holly, prompting a devastated Melissa to shout then run sobbing from the room: "I would rather be alone forever than to feel pain like that. I have feelings for this guy but he's throwing me under the bus."
Blake begins to wonder if he's made a huge mistake when Melissa tells him his reputation is trashed and she'll work to ensure his downfall. Melissa later tells Michael that Holly doesn't care about his feelings if she's going out with Blake. She thinks Michael is on his way out and Blake and Holly will team together. Melissa also calls out Holly for agreeing to go on the date and dismisses Holly's insistence she doesn't want to be with Blake.Blake's date with Holly
Blake and Holly take a private plane to a ski resort where Holly falls over a lot and laughs a lot. Blake is falling for her and he's starting to see her as someone he could be with. Sitting by a campfire, he decides to broach the subject of Michael to figure out where they stand. Holly admits that Michael has confessed to missing her but she doesn't know what that means. She says the last three months have been hard for her because she was "extremely heartbroken" and being around Michael in the house has been hard. She also thinks it will be hard for her and Blake to go back into the house. Blake, however, has a plan. After handing Holly the date rose he says they can either go back to the house or stay overnight where they are. She chooses the latter and we leave them kissing by a fire.
Michael, meanwhile, is pretty hurt that Holly is currently on a date with another guy and he knows now that he wants her back. He's hoping that Holly is thinking about him too, and says it would be "devastating" if she falls in love with Blake. > Bachelor Pad's Gia Allemand: 'The show was tougher this year'> Bachelor Pad's Ames Brown, Jackie Gordon break up
The next morning Holly and Blake return from their date and she's feeling confused. She isn't sure what to do because she misses Michael but also liked kissing Blake. Michael immediately takes Holly to one side and says he never wants to be without her again: "I think one of the biggest things I learned is you are irreplaceable, I have fallen back in love with you. Every single day and every minute I fall more back in love with you. I left you because I was afraid but I'm not scared anymore."
Holly then drops the bombshell that she kissed Blake once and Michael looks devastated. Holly then points out that Michael broke up with her. Cocktail Party
Ella sets the tone for the evening by saying it's about getting rid of a weak link or a power couple and she thinks Kasey and Vienna are the biggest targets. Erica also doesn't like the way Kasey is manipulating everyone in the house. Kasey, meanwhile, is telling people that he needs the prize money to help his grandmother.
William knows he is vulnerable and "easily the most expendable" of the people on the chopping block because he doesn't have a partner but tries arguing his case anyway.
Amid all the strategizing, Holly and Michael slip away for some "healing time" together in the garden. Holly's still confused - she sometimes wants him, sometimes wants to be with someone else. Melissa, meanwhile, doesn't feel completely confident because no-one has told her what is happening. She decides to go around the house asking the men whether they are voting for her. She's desperately trying to get votes for Erica to ensure her safety, but Michael privately notes that she is "so unaware of the game" and can't expect people to tell her to her face which way they are voting. Rose Ceremony
The roses go to: Graham, Michelle, Michael, Vienna, Kasey and Erica, meaning that Melissa and William are eliminated
from the competition.
Michelle's pretty devastated that William will be going home ("He is the salt of the earth, he is the greatest guy") and he admits he's finding it "tough" to leave. However, he says: "It's not a game I can play. I think they could see that and they knew I was the easy guy out."
Blake seems happy with Melissa's exit because it means he can focus on his own game, although Michelle is less thrilled and says she doesn't trust Blake. As a sobbing Michelle departs in her limo, Michelle tells us that Melissa "deserves all the happiness in the world" but just wasn't cut out for the game.
