The sci-fi drama is initially expected to run for 13 weeks, but Braga told Blastr that additional episodes are a possibility if the series proves successful.
"If they tell us they want nine more, it'll be incredible," he said. "We're up to the challenge [though] I might have a nervous breakdown!"
Braga explained that Terra Nova is a "massive production" with "a lot of special needs".
"No other show in history has really had [this] scope and [these] visuals and the kind of visual effects we're doing," he said. "And we've managed to pull it off. We're nearly done, certainly, writing the first season. And we're about over halfway done filming."
He added that the possibility of a nine-episode pick-up is in the hands of "the emperors" at Fox.
"Those decisions are made by people far above," he said. "I'm just in the trenches over here. I have no idea. We're designing it like the first season will be 13, but one never knows."
Terra Nova begins on September 26 on Fox in the US and will debut on Sky1 in the UK this autumn.

Steven Spielberg is Executive Producer, which means he is not hands on, but makes the main decisions and decides on the budgets, etc..
A executive producer can deal with more projects at once while Producers etc.. are more hands on.

Speilberg was suposed to be involved in Falling Skies too. His name means less and less with each project, for every Super 8 there is ER, Taken, Falling Skies, Transformers and so on. He cant possibly actually be involved with them all in the way its always implyed.

Looks good- but will it get cancelled after one season, just as we get into it, like loads of other American series have lately?

What a filler post - ANY SHOW can be extended if its a huge hit - there is nothing new there.
