The actor, who plays Robb Stark on the HBO show, confessed that while he's tempted to pick up the future instalments of the George R R Martin series, he tries not to.
"It's one of the things I try to avoid doing," Madden told MTV News. "I only read season by season. I don't read ahead.
"It's one of the great things about the books that I loved is that you are constantly surprised by these characters and the story, and as an actor, I want to try and stick to that."
Madden continued: "I know if I read too far ahead, I'd start preempting character traits or decisions [Robb] makes. I'd much rather be an actor and make one decision and stick to it and then have the challenge of turning it around and going in a different direction.
"I try and keep it like that as much as I can, so the audience gets as surprised by the journey as I do when I read the books and when I read each script."
Madden recently promised that the famous 'Battle of the Blackwater' would "be awesome" on screen.

He's in for a bit of a shock in season 3 then!

Yes, the similarities between Harry and Richard are astounding. (note the sarcasm)

That picture next to Rob looks awfully like Harry Lloyd...

I got confused with the two Stark curly haired boys. One of the best shows in ages and very faithful to the books.
The fact you never know who's going to die or change character wise what makes it edgy.
