The programme, which just wrapped its second season, uses blind auditions in its early episodes.
Judges Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Cee Lo Green listen with their backs turned to hopefuls, so that looks do not affect their decisions. They choose contestants by spinning their chairs around..
Deadline reports that the feature will be used in next season's battle rounds for the first time.
There is no word yet on exactly how the chairs will change the proces of battle rounds, but NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said that the addition will make The Voice "even better and more competitive".
The Voice is among several shows returning for NBC's 2012-2013 fall schedule.
All four judges have signed on to participate this fall, though their spring contracts will be based on whether the musicians will be available for the rigorous shooting schedule.

They already know what they look like in the battle rounds. What's the point?

when the gimmicks start, something is wrong..They had a great idea, then allowed it to be "Idle - ized" after that ridiculous 'vote' last week -- it's about over now. I do thank them for one thing, showing me JULIET..Good luck voice folks.. have fun spinning your chairs around. ugh

They already sort of use them in the Australian version - but only for a 'time out' to consult the celebrity folk along to 'help' them. I hope it's a bit more interesting than that...
