Fringe star Anna Torv has admitted that she does not know what will happen to her character in the show's last season.

Fox confirmed in April that the sci-fi drama will return for 13 final episodes in late 2012.

Fringe exec Joel Wyman recently confirmed that the future world of 2036 will play a part in the final season, but the Olivia Dunham character played by Torv was conspicuously absent from season four's flash-forward episode 'Letters of Transit'.

"I'm not sure where Olivia is," Torv confessed to TVLine. "I don't know if they'll go for it, but I would love for her... to have been hanging around… sitting on the sidelines and teaching [daughter] Etta the ropes, sort of pulling the strings from behind, where the Observers can't get her."

The actress also revealed that she would be happy for Olivia to die heroically once Fringe comes to a end.

"I'd be happy with that, too," she said. "Yeah. I would be happy with that."

Speaking about the seeming departure of her character's alternative self, Fauxlivia, in season four, Torv added: "I don't even want to think about it. I'm totally going to miss her! I can't believe they let me have her for so long."

Fringe will return to Fridays at 9/8c this fall on Fox. In the UK, the series airs on Sky1.
