"I've seen an outline, and I know there's a script that [show creator] Pete Berg and his producing partner Sarah Aubrey are excited about," Britton told Vulture.
The actress - who played Tami Taylor between 2006 and 2011 - added: "Everybody's really busy but, you know, people have hiatuses. It's just about focusing on it and pinning down when it would happen, and then everyone has to make it a priority."
Britton also defended the box office performance of her Friday Night Lights co-star Taylor Kitsch, who played Tim Riggins on the show and later starred in the films John Carter and Battleship.
"He was great in them," she argued. "That's all business. That has nothing to do with him. I think he was phenomenal in all of it."
The final episode of Friday Night Lights aired on DirectTV's 101 network - now the Audience Network - on February 9, 2011.
