Paget Brewster could return to 'Criminal Minds', says Joe Mantegna

Paget Brewster could return to Criminal Minds for guest appearances, her co-star Joe Mantegna has claimed.

Brewster quit the CBS drama in February and her character Emily Prentiss will depart at the conclusion of the current season.

"She's open to coming back," Mantegna, who plays David Rossi, told TV Guide. "And the character is positioned in a way that she can come back periodically."

The actor predicted that Brewster will make periodic return appearances in future seasons of Criminal Minds.

"I could see her coming and doing an arc with us, and that will be good for everybody," he said.

"Sometimes that's enough. If she comes in and does [a few episodes] per season, it will be like she never left in a way."

Brewster was previously let go from Criminal Minds in 2010, but returned for the show's seventh run.

The series airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
