The show's executive producer Joe Roth (Major League, Mona Lisa Smile) is being sued by another producer, Jason Shuman, The Hollywood Reporter states.
Shuman claims that he spent two years adapting the 2003 film Anger Management for television, and was promised a cut of the profits made by the series.
However he alleges that he was cut out of the deal when Sheen signed on, and is owed more than $50 million in compensation.
Roth said: "We haven't received the complaint but we are aware of the issue.
"We reviewed this issue months ago with our lawyers, our lawyers determined it has no merit, and we thought the issue had been dropped."
