Meryl Streep's daughter Mamie Gummer joins CW drama pilot 'First Cut'

Gummer will star in The CW's medical drama First Cut
as the lead character Emily, reports Deadline
In First Cut
, Emily leaves her nerdy high school past behind for a new life as a doctor, only to discover that the hospital where she works is just like her high school.
The pilot is written by Jennie Snyder Urman (Gilmore Girls
) and will be directed by Bharat Nalluri.First Cut
recently cast three actors - Aja Naomi King, Smallville
's Justin Hartley and Kelly McCreary - as medical interns
, along with Michael Rady as a surgical resident
Gummer's previous television roles included ABC's own medical drama Off the Map
and CBS's The Good Wife
Gummer is the oldest daughter of Meryl Streep, who won the 'Best Actress' Academy Award
for The Iron Lady
at last month's Oscars.
