Alona Tal has joined The CW's drama pilot Cult.

The project, from Gossip Girl's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, will focus on a string of mysterious disappearances linked to a television show, also titled Cult.

Supernatural actress Tal will play an actress who stars as a cop on the fictional series, according to TVLine.

Her character is dragged into a real-life investigation when someone begins recreating the crimes depicted on-screen.

Tal, who has also appeared on The Killing and Pretty Little Liars, was previously attached to FX's adaptation of the comic book Powers.

However, FX President John Landgraf recently revealed that Powers was on hold and undergoing a "fairly substantial rewrite".

Melrose Place's Jessica Lucas will also appear in the Cult pilot as a production assistant.

Cult has been written by Rockne O'Bannon, whose previous credits include The Twilight Zone, Farscape and V.

Schwartz and Savage are also currently developing The Carrie Diaries for The CW.
