Brothers & Sisters executive producer Greg Berlanti is working on a new project for CBS.

The drama focuses on a young police officer who is promoted to detective after intercepting a drug ring, Deadline reports.

However, the officer may have risen up the ranks too quickly.

As well as working on Brothers & Sisters, Berlanti has been involved in shows like Dawson's Creek, Everwood, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone and No Ordinary Family. He also wrote the screenplay for the recent movie Green Lantern.

Berlanti is working on the CBS project alongside Nick Wootton, whose credits include Chuck, Prison Break, Law & Order and NYPD Blue.

The show is the latest project to enter development at CBS. The network is currently working on a number of concepts, including a new comedy from the creator of Cougar Town, a legal drama from Samuel L Jackson and adaptations of the April Woo and King & Maxwell novels.
