Netflix orders 'House Of Cards' series

The online streaming service Netflix has picked up Kevin Spacey's new drama House Of Cards.

According to Deadline, Netflix beat established cable networks such as HBO and AMC to the series by committing to two seasons.

Some estimates have suggested that the deal could be worth up to $100m.

House Of Cards is based on a British book and series. The original story follows a British politician hoping to become Prime Minister when Margaret Thatcher's tenure comes to an end.

Spacey will star in and executive produce the show, while The Social Network director David Fincher will helm the pilot.
