NBC has reportedly picked up a new pilot from writer Stephen Gaghan.

Variety says that the show is known as S.I.L.A, which stands for Special Investigations LA.

The project focuses on various aspects of Los Angeles, such as crime, law enforcement and City Hall.

Gaghan, who will direct the pilot, won an Oscar for his adaptation of Traffic in 2001. He also worked on Rules Of Engagement and Syriana.

NBC is currently developing a number of projects, including a programme about supernatural crimes and a drama about staging a Broadway production.
