The BBC sci-fi drama celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, with a number of former Who stars rumoured to be making a comeback.
Tennant discussed a possible reappearance on G4's Attack of the Show! while promoting his new BBC Four drama The Spies Of Warsaw.
"I cannot be drawn on anything," he said. "Who knows what will happen next year? I'm sure there are lots of plans being discussed."
He added: "I am not confirming nor denying anything."
Tennant's Tenth Doctor - the show's lead between 2005 and 2010 - was seen lighting the Olympic Flame in 2006 episode 'Fear Her'.
The 41-year-old Scot joked about his absence from the recent London 2012 opening ceremony, saying: "What happened? What went wrong? I was waiting for the phone call... there was an online petition apparently, which the London Organising Committee chose to ignore!"
Doctor Who returns to BBC One this August for a third series with current star Matt Smith.

I'd like to see him come back for a special episode. It is the 50th anniversary so it would fit right in and the Children in Need mini-episode he did with Peter Davison's Doctor showed such events can work really well. I like both Tennant and Smith btw. To me one is not 'better' than the other. Their versions of the Doctor are radically different in a good way.

David Tennant was voted best Doctor when he was playing the Doctor. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6211584.stm It seems the current Doctor is more relevant in the minds of fans when these votes happen.

I wish people would stop saying there are "rumours" about his return. There aren't. Gossip, speculation and fan wishes yes, but rumours? No

Yes I liked David Tennant ,thought he brought something new to Doctor Who but let`s not forget it was Tennants decision to leave the show. Matt Smith I think is good as well as he makes the role his own.
In response to why celebrate 50 years when there was a 16 year gap, WHO CARES the show has been with us irrespective of time for 50 years. I just hope it`s celebrated with a Doctor who Reunion and I would dearly love a hologram appearence of Jon Pertwee & Elizabeth Sladen that would be amazing!
