Noel Clarke has suggested that a return to Doctor Who is unlikely.Speculation is rife that former Who cast members may return to the show for its 50th anniversary in November 2013, but Clarke told Digital Spy that he does not expect to appear in any celebratory episode.
"I'm sure if I was gonna be there, I'd know about it already," said the 36-year-old actor - who played Mickey Smith between 2005 and 2010.
"I'm not chasing it and I'm not... begging for it. I do my own thing and they do their thing. If they called me, then I'm sure there'd be a conversation, but I'm not calling them or chasing it."
Clarke added that he has continued to watch Doctor Who following his departure from the series, adding that he is a fan of current lead Matt Smith.
"I love what Matt brings to it and I'm sure the 50th anniversary will be no holds barred, I'm sure it'll be great," he said.
Noel Clarke's new film Storage 24 is released to cinemas this Friday (June 29).

Mickey was important in that he set the stage for Rory to become an important character.
Mickey was originally the plain boyfriend that just got left behind. Mickey then experienced some character development (after realizing he was just the tin dog and then asking to join the TARDIS crew) and this lead him to become more heroic and eventually in the other universe's Torchwood. He then comes back to this universe (and was supposed to be on Torchwood, but that didn't work out). I did feel the random shipping of him with Martha to be...odd, but Torchwood would have explained that as well.
Now compare that to Rory. The plain boyfriend that got left behind. However it was up to the Doctor to bring Rory into the fold, where he also becomes more heroic (and eventually a 2000 year old Roman!).

Never liked the character of Mickey. But I'm sure Noel is a swell guy.

Noel Clark was great in certain episodes, but he was just background fluff for the majority of his time on the show - which ultimately means he's not as memorable as folks such as Captain Jack or River Song. There are many companions throughout the 50 year run of the series that are much more iconic and deserve a place far more than he does. If there's going to be a 'tin dog' in the specials, it needs to be K9.
The other thing is, since leaving Doctor Who, Noel has built up quite an impressive reputation for the other stuff he's done - acting, directing and writing. In a lot of people's eyes he's more famous for doing those than his brief stint in Doctor Who, which I suppose is something to his credit.

Mickey wasn't so good when he first appeared, but was leaps and bounds better when he returned as more the "action hero" version of him after his experiences on a parallel earth. Really like the indie stuff Noel has done since, which surprised me given how he initially came across on Dr Who.
