'Superstar': Afnan Iftikhar becomes first eliminated contestant

Afnan Iftikhar has become the first singer to be eliminated from Superstar.The 23-year-old from North Shields (below left) fell into the bottom two on Monday night's (July 16) live show along with Dirk Johnston (below right) following a public vote.

The pair performed 'Memory' from the musical Cats before Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to eliminate Iftikhar from the competition.
"I'm wrong-footed, because we are doing a song which is completely dissimilar to anything we've done on the programme so far and suddenly, I hear you two boys singing so beautifully," he told the pair.
Iftikhar had performed a rendition of 'Next to Me' by Emeli Sandé on Sunday's first live programme.
Superstar continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, with another elimination due to take place on Tuesday's show.

@ Valeviel, Not all ladies of the age of 50/ 50+ make suggestive comments to 20 year old, ...............but let me ask you if this................ its alright for a man of 50 - 50+ to have a young woman age 20 hanging on his arm, but its NOT alright for a woman of the same age of 50- 50+ TO FLURT WITH A 20 YEAR OLD Man, you call it been desperate so does that also go for the 50-50+ man with his 20yr old bit of fluff his arm ?

Dawn French trying to be funny, and flirting with the contestants is just agony to witness.... I'm embarrassed for her, and the poor 'Jesuses' pretending to laugh is pitiful. When will women of 50+ realise that making suggestive comments to 20 year olds just looks desperate?

I'm enjoying the show. There are three things I don't like though:
1 - Stairway to Heaven,
2 - Walk into the light,
3 - The word Jesuses
