'Downton Abbey' star: 'Maybe it's too late for Lady Mary, Crawley'

Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery has questioned whether her character Lady Mary will ever find true love.Speaking in a behind-the-scenes documentary, the actress said that she believes she may not reunite with former lover Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens).
"They were meant to be together. But maybe they can't be, maybe it is too late," she explained.

Dockery added: "She is with this person who she is going to spend the rest of her life with but she doesn't love him."
Creator Julian Fellowes commented on the storyline: "Matthew is a man in hell and the only thing to do is punish himself. Sin must not be rewarded in his mind."
Downton Abbey: Behind the Drama airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1, ahead of the show's festive special which will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 9pm on ITV1.

two equally unpleasant characters - they should definitely be together rather than inflict themselves on someone else!

Lisa Wilkin Actually love, they've changed it now. It did say she is engaged to Richard, and Matthew is engaged to Lavinia.

It says SHE is with someone she doesn't love meaning Richard Carlisle. So research was correct.

Yeah err Lavinia died, so he's not engaged to her anymore. Poor research there DS.
