The Girls Aloud star will pre-record her performance of new single 'Call My Name' in front of the studio audience at 6pm tonight, shortly before the show goes on air at 6.30pm.
This will give sound engineers around 90 minutes to check and possibly improve Cole's vocals before it is aired tonight.
The singer caused a stir on The X Factor in 2010 after insisting she would sing 'Promise This' live but miming everything except the last few lines.
"Since then Cheryl has been working really hard on her vocals. Now she wants to sing live and prove herself as a professional," a source said.
"Everyone is supportive of her wish to sing live but just like when she was on The X Factor, her performance will be pre-recorded so there is a big safety net there.
"The show is called The Voice - the singing that they broadcast needs to be perfect."
Kylie Minogue will also perform on The Voice UK this weekend.

Not surprised she didn't appear to be singing live, given the energy needed for the dance routine.
As anyone who has tried this (I.e. probably none of the commentators) will know, its almost impossible to regulate your breath when dancing like that. Madonna was always dreadfully out of tune when she danced and sang, for example.

Best performance and song. Deserves to be number one. Cant stop hearing it in my head. `Euphoria, we`re going up,up,up,up,up '. Oops wrong thread, thought this was about singing live.

She didn't mime, she was definitely singing, but it was alongside a track. Depending on how your audio is set up at home, you can clearly hear her live vocal in parts, it just wasn't as high in the mix as it should have been.
Also, yes the show is called The Voice, but she's not performing for votes. Why does she have to prove herself to anyone? She's already been through a talent show and got voted as a winner. If she chooses to use a track to enhance her vocal while she's dancing, so what? She does perform very well.
If you compare her performance to Lana's from a few weeks ago, I know which I prefer. Yes, Lana sang live, but it sounded absolutely appalling and she didn't move a muscle. At least I'm somewhat entertained by Cheryl.

You're right, she wasn't performing for votes but don't you and others think it crazy that on a show claiming to be about The Voice we have someone whose performance is anything but. It was her choice to perform a high energy song and lets face it , we all know why but, if she wanted to be seem as a credible artist she could have picked a different song and actually sung live. Alternatively, she should stick to ads, videos and looking good for the glossy mags.

As you say..she should stick to Ads...and leave her groin alone

She mimed anyone who thought she would sing live is sadly deluded the camera stayed at a distance most of the time but you could still tell she wasn't in sync. I wondered why she had so many backing dancers there was hardly room on that stage to move and the choreographer wants to go back to their day job as all they seemed to be doing was grabbing their groins !! I hope Kylie gets a good reception and as long a time on stage Cheryl Cole is definately a z lister Kylie an A.

The Voice - has been tagged all summer as being different and that its all about singing live, it all about 'The Voice' - Then they get Cheryl Chav on and she mimes, auto tunes, etc whatever.....
Condratiction in terms - what a joke BBC, what a joke............
Its lost all credibility as a show, and to think we even foolishly even thought for a second that chav tweedy was going to even sing live.....
