However, while Kidd does have a contract with Sony, it is with its publishing division for his songwriting rather than with the recording sector for his own project.
A spokesperson told Digital Spy: "Vince has a publishing deal with Sony ATV for his songwriting and remains unsigned to a record label.
"Like millions of other people Vince chose to participate in The Voice UK to showcase his talent on the biggest platform possible.
"The show's only prerequisite is that contestants must not have an existing record contract which has always been the case."
It is common practice in the music industry for musicians to have publishing deals without securing a recording contract.

Kidd's Voice coach Jessie J wrote songs for Miley Cyrus before securing her own deal, while Emeli Sandé penned tracks for Cheryl Cole and Leona Lewis before signing a record deal with EMI.
Kidd - real name Matthew Protheroe - previously entered The X Factor as part of boyband Futureproof.
The Voice UK continues with another 80-minute episode at 7pm on BBC One this Saturday.

Where I come from we would call that Libel (written "publication" of a defamatory remark that has the tendency to injure another's reputation or character). I am assuming since you aren't in the least concerned about being sued, you have proof VK has a coke problem or are you just talking out your **** like a fool?

I'd like to know how it's fair to have a current, successful west end star audition on the show. The fact that what's her name didn't get through is irrelevant. Had to laugh when she was moaning on about how humiliated she felt. Stick to the day job love.

He's so off his face on coke I doubt he'd remember if he had a contract.
