Big Brother viewers complain after Caroline dubs Adam a "gorilla"

Big Brother has picked up more complaints to Ofcom after viewers took offence to Caroline Wharram describing black contestant Adam Kelly as a "gorilla".The 20-year-old ex-boarding school pupil made the remark after they clashed over a task that saw Adam spin her on a roundabout while she attempted to eat a jar of sweets.

"He's just a ridiculous gorilla - bowl haircut, no sanitation," she was shown to say on last night's (June 28) episode. "He's just disgusting."
Caroline was given a formal warning by Big Brother and later apologised to Adam, telling him: "It's not a personal attack... Obviously you are not a bully, I am."
However, Broadcast reports that Ofcom still received 50 complaints from viewers who took her words to be a racial slur.

The incident has now pushed the number of complaints about Big Brother this week to over 1,000, following Conor McIntyre's threatening behaviour towards Deana Uppal after an earlier challenge.
An executive producer of the show has since defended the decision to allow Conor a place in the house, describing his outburst as "out of character".

Actually, she attempted to eat ONE small jar of sweets, not three, and what a fuss she made of it too. Horrible, obnoxious, vile creature that she is!

No one knows if she meant it in a racial way other than Caroline. But I do believe she is a very immature, insecure, troubled individual with no thought of others what so ever and I think as she is well spoken many of the housemates and some of the public allow her to get away with much much more than anyone else would. Thank fully some of the housemates and the public have started to realise how nasty she is. She says people are disgusting or she hates them behind there back and then if they find out she was being nasty she says how much she loves them and how sorry she is. What a game !!!

And the thing is I don't even think Big Bro told her to apologise, she did that by her own right. It's others dirty, sick and twisted minds that make things into things they aren't.

And ppl wonder y society is becoming so ridiculous. She said gorilla nothin about his race. U ppl say she is a bully u lot r bullying her by tryin to get her out the house for something she didn't do. She apologied let's move on instead of makin a big commotion

I tend to think society is becoming ridiculous because of the lack of education and basic literacy skills.

If things like this happen then its down to the show itself to do something about it there is no live feed so us (the public) wouldn't know anything about what has been said in the house if they were to not broadcast the "BAD BEHAVIOR" or things that some people would find offensive. i don't think the housemates should be punished for the stupidity of the people that put the show together!
