'Inbetweeners' Simon Bird unsure of movie sequel: 'No concrete plans'

The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird has suggested that a movie sequel may not get made.Damon Beesley - who co-created the hit E4 comedy with Iain Morris - appeared to confirm that a follow-up to 2011's The Inbetweeners Movie was in the works earlier this week.
However, Bird - who played Will McKenzie - claimed that he is "not... aware" of any such project at a screening for his Channel 4 comedy Friday Night Dinner at this year's Edinburgh International Television Festival.
"There was a story in the press... but I think that was not quite true - don't believe everything you read," said the actor.
"Iain and Damon are thinking about doing one and are trying to think of ideas, and that's about as far as it's got. There's no concrete plans, I don't think."
The Inbetweeners Movie made a final box office gross of over £45m ($71.5m) and will be released to US cinemas on September 7.
A US remake of the original series debuted earlier this week on MTV.

Holding out for more money then? The firsy film was embarrassingly bad, so mich so that the cast admitted it in the build up to it being released. Made a mint at the box office though, so good on him. Take the money and run.

They just need to think it through, and not bleed to concept dry. It can be done, but it would be hard to make it work. The film was very much an ending, and starting it again may ruin the show. I know its not in the same league and im not comparing the content of it, but Only Fools and Horses did the same thing, and came back for those specials at the begining of the last decade. It didnt need to happen, but they did it anyway and for me it weakened the series. The producers just need to be very careful, or it may end up like the Hangover films.

Very rarely do TV shows successfully make the transition to the big screen: The Inbetweeners movie is a rare example. Another might be pushing their luck too far.
