The Countdown presenter said: "The small family farm is the backbone of the UK countryside. I wanted to use everything I had learnt, over the past 40 years of business, to help them come through this difficult time."
Hewer will offer his expertise to five farms, developing projects such as harvesting seaweed to brewing beer, producing flavoured pet water and entertaining cruise ship groups.
Lord Sugar's close aide's motto throughout the show is "doing nothing is not an option" and he faces stiff resistance from a number of the farms he works alongside.
The Farm Fixer starts on July 9 on BBC Two.

Yeah, he really looks like someone who's spent a lot of time on the farm.
This isn't like the Hotel or Restaurant Inspectors - where they've lived and breathed what they're talking about.

But that's one of the points, the farms aren't running themselves as businesses which is what he does know.
If they can't get the basic farming bits right when they've worked there for generations then that's their issue, I'm guessing this is all about going away from the traditional revenue streams.
Hotel and Restaurant Inspectors is of more interest to me though, some of those people need their heads banging together!

Should be hilarious to watch - especially if he cringes at his own work xP

I really like Nick Hewer presenting Countdown - he is infinitiely more interesting that Jeff "Yawn" Stelling. Jeff's Countdown time was sport sport sport sport sport whereas Nick has a much wider interest level and therefore the programme is more accessible to potential new audiences. However, although this new programme "The Farm Fixer" seems perfectly suited to Nick, I somehow doubt that it will be a success. Sounds fairly dull. Keep him on Countdown and The Apprentice - two highly popular and long running shows.
