Lou, who is an 81-year-old widower from Birmingham, is the oldest contestant in the current series and reportedly opened his audition by saying that he was "available" for regular X Factor panelist Tulisa Contostavlos.
Contostavlos said that Lou's performance "pulled at my heart strings" but Mel B was not won over, saying: "I wanted to fall asleep".
However, Mel B comforted a woman who began to cry following her audition during the first session. She was helped up and down from the stage by Gary Barlow, apparently struggling on the steps because of the large heels on her shoes.
Barlow was the recipient of teasing from Louis Walsh - who referred to him as "Sir Gary" during the day's auditions - and received salutes from members of the audience when 'Rule Britannia' was played during the day's second audition session.
Auditions for The X Factor continue at EventCity in Manchester today and tomorrow (June 6 and 7).

i think i like the sound of mel b, she could genuinely take on the role of absent cowell ! not read que cards written by comedians like barlow does !

Mel B is a real nasty piece of work, she has a temper and really thinks she's something. I am bemused as to why she keeps getting jobs when no-one, including famous people she has worked with actually likes her.

Remember when she split from her husband Jimmy and her and all her family were going around saying "he's gay anyway" as though it was the most disgusting thing ever.
She likely shouldn't have married him then eh.

I saw the second half of auditions and the audience loved Mel. She was funny and honest and came out with some hilarious one liners

Also, before the judges even come out the producers tell us to cheer for the judges nice comments and boo for their negative comments, but we aren't allowed to boo the acts. It's all so set up

Even more of a set up when you consider that all of these "ACTS" auditioning "live" have already been judged by a panel of none entities during January/February this year.
The winning line up along with the final judge line up has already been sorted by the Syco team and all this live auditioning is mere window dressing.
Time the public realised just how much they are being conned by the media moguls desire to rip them off.
