Speaking in the wake of the announcement, O'Leary claimed that he has not dwelled on the high-profile dismissal.
"I don't pay attention to the criticism Steve got," he told the Daily Star. "That did not bother me. I've just come back from holiday and when you are away you realise how inconsequential people's views are."

O'Leary admitted in January that he has yet to sign a contract for the next UK series of The X Factor.
"The next month or so will be telling. I'll either be doing it or I won't," he explained. "You never know. That's the thing working for Simon Cowell."
Jones's axing from The X Factor USA preceded confirmation that Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul will both be leaving the judging panel.

Atleast the fake bore that is Paula Abdul is gone...what the hell was cowell thinking bringing her on from AI? Gutted about the axe of the welsh plank of wood...hes so emotionless, anesthetized and try-hard it makes for comical viewing.

All of you numnuts are the type to write to Points of View with your tedious and mundane views. Its so tiresome reading the constant bashing of the tv, celebrity etc I suppose Id be the same if my life was as dull as all of yours.

I honestly do like him... he is fun and light enough for the job. Better than have a robotic attitude and zero degree of personality, like Mr. Jones... :-p when everything goes south, I count on Dermot bring up the mood and make me enjoy the show... :-)

i think its because when the judges are being ridiculous and it isnt remotely entertaining to watch dermot at least has a light-hearted attitude to it and doesnt take it too seriously! but i understand why people dont like him!
