Gaynor Faye has continued to ice-skate regularly since taking part in Dancing On Ice
The actress, who won the show's first series in 2006, has introduced her partner Mark Pickering and children Oliver, six, and Lily, three, to the hobby.
''If you play together as a family then you stay together," Gaynor told the Daily Record
. ''Ice skating is like a big family day out. That's the best thing about it. It keeps you fit and gives you that quality family time together, which is so important.
''Oliver is fantastic. He's like a little Dobermann on the polished floor. He can do tricks and all sorts. Half the time I'm watching him asking, 'how did you do that'? Lily just skates along between my legs. You get quite a sore back because there's a lot of bending over and pulling her along.''
Offering advice to the new batch
of contestants, Gaynor said: ''Be true to yourself and enjoy it for what it is. Enjoy the moment because it's over very quickly. You get to that physical peak and it's a real experience. It was such an amazing journey personally for me.
''Fair enough it's a competition but you have to be real. The public are not stupid and if you're being a certain person for the cameras they see through all that.''Dancing On Ice
starts at 5.50pm on Sunday on ITV1.
