How come they can map the Human Genome but they cannot find a cure for Cancer. Sorry this sounds harsh but considering the vast Billions these Pharmaceutical Company's make i tend to agree with Rebecca Burke do they really want to find a cure.

"How come they can map the Human Genome but they cannot find a cure for Cancer"
-- The point of the SU2C campaign is that scientists do not have enough money to run the trials they need to test new drugs and treatments for cancer patients.
-- Cancer survival rates have doubled in the past 40 years, awareness about early detection and new treatments mean that many more people now survive after being diagnosed with cancer.
"Sorry this sounds harsh but considering the vast Billions these Pharmaceutical Company's make i tend to agree with Rebecca Burke do they really want to find a cure"
-- CRUK is not a pharmaceutical company. CRUK shares it's information and collaborates with others so their work has the greatest impact in the fight against cancer. They do not own or make money from any of the treatments they discover or help to discover.

What I find offensive is that they ask for a specific amount of money now.please text 5 or 10. It really annoys me.I give monthly to my chosen charity and i do not expect them to demand a fixed sum.

They are not demanding a fix sum this is just an option to donate via text. however you can call them and donate as much as you want (though £2 is the min donation as the charity would end up making a loss if it was anything less) and if you have an issue with having to donate £2 then it seems strange. No one is demanding anything.

How can they demand you or anyone else to give money, Simple answer don't donate. They are not going to say right you lot i want you to donate £6.66 are they it has to be £6.66 not £7 not £6.

It's not about being cynical princwor or offensive it is perfectly valid to question how cancer charities spend their money considering how OUR money is what keeps them going. There are so many gene mutations are we EVER gonna find a cure - this is a perfectly valid thought for anyone who is exasperated seeing so much cancer everywhere. Sachin I love the fact you wax lyrical about this but you are the one who comments on articles where celebs have talked about having bulimia saying "it's worth it they look good" who on earth would want to listen to health advice from YOU many of your posts have disgusted me in the past! I have taken this up with you but you have failed to ever defend your posts! The HPV is a wonderful vaccine which will save the lives of young girls growing up but not anyone over that age -we have to just hope there is a cure found some day. Screening for cancer is amazing but don't forget people under the age of having mammograms can also have breast cancer I know I was one of them. So no you certainly wouldn't wish it on anyone princwor (although the way you put dot dot dot after that sentance seriously disturbed me). So don't talk to me as if I don't know what I am talking about as I do I had to have a mastectomy last year - you don't know what sort of things I have thought and if the whole thing has made me cynical to the constant pink ribbon, shoving pink down peoples throats (yeah how much of each mug with a garish pink sticker sold by asda and the like) goes to cancer? Why should a CE have a canny salary and a west end office - is that what its about for them? Whats wrong with a small humble office and a decent salary to reflect living costs nothing more? How much to the nurses get paid and even the actual surgeons in relation to these heads of charities? Tamoxifen etc wonderful - not everyone can take it and what about the postcode lotteries and the difficulty in getting hold of it? What about the people who are refused further chemotherapy and radiation? Everything isn't glowing in the world of cancer treatment so lets not pretend it is, raising some perfectly valid questions is not negative or offensive get used to it it's a free country!

Clearly all these negative and damn right offensive comments are coming from the lucky few not impacted by cancer... U need to take a step back, anyone impacted by cancer would give as much as they could to 'buy' a cure... If it means paying CE's a canny salary, having west end offices and a cure is found... Wouldn't it b worth it... U need to atract the best scientists to have a chance... Basic business management... I only pray that u'r not impacted by cancer... I wouldn't wish that on anyone....

Most people have been impacted by this disease whether it be by them or one of their family members suffering from it but that doesn't mean people cant ask the question How come there isn't a cure for Cancer after all these years.

Obviously people should donate only to charities that they have looked into, and made sure the money goes where they want it to. But the cynicism and, yes, conspiracy theories, on here are ridiculous. When you ignore medical progress as a whole, and ignore medical/surgical progress in the treatment of various cancers, it's easy to imagine some sinister plot by pharmaceuticals to keep us ill. Ignore the HPV vaccine that will cut down on cervical cancer, ignore public screening to help catch cancers early, ignore pharmacological advances with medications like tamoxifen and herceptin, ignore that many cancers CAN be cured if discovered at the right stage, ignore that many cancers e.g. retinoblastoma are completely curable, because cancer's clearly that one disease that we're not meant to beat, right?
