Tim Vine to host new family-based ITV quiz show

The comedian will front the new family-based game show, currently under the working title of Don't Blow the Inheritance, reports Comedy.co.uk.
The format of the show will see different generations of a family working together in order to win big prizes.
Producers described the show by saying: "The older generation (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) battle to build their Inheritance Prize Fund up with thousands of pounds ready to pass on to the next generation (children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces).
"However... the younger generation team mate can only take the Inheritance Prize Pot home if they don't 'blow it all' at the end of the game! It's down to the younger generation to answer the final questions correctly so they can keep the cash rather than blowing all of mum, dad or granny's hard work!"
It will be made by 12 Yard, the company behind shows such as Eggheads and Who Dares Wins.
The show will be recorded at the end of July, to be broadcast later this year. Hopefuls can apply to be on the show by visiting the ITV website.
The hosting gig will be Vine's first role on TV since quitting BBC comedy Not Going Out after six years in May.
Tim Vine previously hosted Channel 5's launch night in 1997, as well as the channel's quiz show Whittle. He also fronted Channel 4's Fluke.

God no!!! I went to a recording of the new Gambit back in the 90s at Anglia Television in Norwich... one show 30 minutes... took over 3 hours to be recorded because he kept messing up. Half the audience walked out after an hour and the Floor Manager was begging them to stay. What was left had to all bunch up in the middle for the screen shots. The show was a good format, but he is a lousy host.

I remember when he was the face of "Channel 5" with that awful show "Whittle". He's always come across as a bit of a wet blanket really, can't see him fronting another game show. Not that his brother is any better suited to Eggheads.

Not sure what's with all the Tim Vine hate. Guess he has to be edgy and offensive to be what is constituted as funny like those pioneers of comedy like Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle and all those other banter kings...... Yawn.

This show will either be an awful filler for when The Chase isn't on, or one of the rubbish ones they dump on a Tuesday night at 8pm which get less viewers than a daytime programme on Channel 5

One of the most irritating people to ever grace a tv screen (next to Michael McIntyre) who isn't funny in the slightest. I'm surprised NGO lasted six seconds never mind six years, utter rubbish! I even have to give Countdown a miss when he's in dictionary corner spouting his embarassingly cringeworthy 'puns'. Speaking of Channel 5 quiz shows the best one by far was 100%, they should bring that back!

It's a sad day when people can't appreciate a good pun. Comedy snobbery.
