Series creator Adrian Poynton confirmed the cancellation to The British Comedy Guide, claiming that BBC Three "wants to take its comedy output in another direction".
"It's a strange place to find ourselves really," he said. "We honestly believe we made a second series bigger, bolder and stronger than series one and audience reaction seemed to back that up.
"The final episode of the series is a great way to end the show, although I did have a few more stories I wanted to tell... and a few final things to wrap up for the regular viewers."
Earlier this year, Will Mellor told Digital Spy that he was expecting a third series of White Van Man to be commissioned.
"We're already story-lining [series three] so we're definitely heading towards that," he said in February.
A US remake of the show - starring Kyle Bornheimer, JK Simmons and Leah Remini - is currently in development at ABC.

Him and Her is the only original comedy left on BBC3 now that I actually think is worth watching. It's good - so it will probably be axed after the next series...

that wouldn't be the case, BBC dont cancel a show because the sold it; there is a US version of 'Being Human' and they are still making the Brit version and this would be the same for other shows.

I see...they have really canceled it due to ABC doing an American version...if they were writing a third series and everything was going fine etc etc etc then the only reason left is the snippet that states "A US remake of the show - starring Kyle Bornheimer, JK Simmons and Leah Remini - is currently in development at ABC."
shame really because it was a great series but I guess the BBC has sold out [again] to America :(
