The first image from the new series of Red Dwarf has been released.New episodes of the sci-fi comedy - starring Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Danny John-Jules - will air on Dave later this year.

UKTV channel Dave first revived Red Dwarf in 2009 for three-part special 'Back to Earth'. It was later confirmed that the series would return for six further episodes.
Last year, Danny John-Jules (Cat) criticised the BBC for its treatment of Red Dwarf, suggesting that the corporation had "ignored" the show.
"The BBC never really pushed Red Dwarf as one of their flagship shows, even though it was so successful," he told Digital Spy. "[The series] has made untold millions all over the world, but we're still not part of the furniture."

I don't think anyone's pretending that the series is supposed to take place 2 minutes after the last one, it was clear in Back To Earth a lot of time had passed.
I'm sure there'll be an explanation for Rimmer too, maybe the human Rimmer from series 8 aged for a while before dying again, hence the hologram form being older....

sad though you'd think, the set would of been revamped to keep up with times, right? no oh well just me hoping that red dwarf would look more futuristic. but obv they wanted to keep low budgets again bring back the cardboard boxes guys we're in for a new season.
