Fogle, Cracknell to ski 450 miles for BBC2
Ben Fogle and James Cracknell are to take part in a South Pole ski race of more than 450 miles for a new BBC Two series.

On Thin Ice will tell the story of the pair's training for and performance in the December challenge in five hour-long instalments.

The race roughly follows the route taken by Captain Robert Scott in 1912 and will involve -50C temperatures and hauling 70kg of supplies.

Alexis Giradet, who is producing and directing, said it would be tough for the production crew as well as Fogle, Cracknell and an as-yet-unnamed third racer.

"We have a mammoth task ahead of us - it is daunting and exciting in equal measure," she said.
