Sunshine On Elstree - Part Two

Taking the table from Part 1 and filling it in for the housemates, here’s what we get:-

Scott, pesky creature, is quoted as being on the cusp of Virgo and Libra, which means he was born on either the last day of Virgo or the first of Libra. It’s possible to figure out the exact placement of the Sun if we know his time and place of birth, but for the meantime we’ll keep him in mind for both signs.

A couple of signs are not represented. Perhaps the serious-minded, hard-working Capricorns were too busy putting their heads down and getting on with it to compete in BB4. And the Sagittarians are probably off back-packing or having other adventures in the wider world.

Looking at what we do have, one interesting aspect of this group is the elemental balance. We have four water signs, four (well, three-and-a-half!) air signs, but only two each of fire and earth. This could make for an interesting mix, since traditionally air and water signs don’t relate well to each other. Some friction within that air and water group could develop early, and the water signs might react by forming an alliance with Jon and Nush, the earth signs.

The second is the slight preference for fixed signs. The key characteristic of people with fixed signs in their charts is determination. Anyone participating in BB4 at all, let alone intending to win it, is going to need that quality, perhaps above all else, to endure the psychological pressure.

What roles might we expect the housemates to play? Perhaps we’ll see Cancerian Tania mothering people as time goes by and I was interested to see Libran Sissy leading in the production of the shopping list - diplomatic yet assertive Librans love to control and mediate discussions. My-body-is-a-temple Virgoans often tend to be interested in health issues and alternative medicine, so I’m not surprised to see Nush starting off with yoga practice.

Where might the flashpoints be? I’ll nominate a couple of interesting combinations to kick off with.

Anouska and Justine– both Scorpios, and until we confirm Scott’s sign, Scorpio is the only sign with more than one representative. If these two stay in long enough some fierce competition could arise between them, not just for the obvious prize, but for the other benefits (notably the attention of the males). Don’t expect any cat fights, though – competition, like many other things for Scorpios, tends to be conducted as a covert operation.

Before I get loads of hate mail from Scorpios I don’t think the group’s negative reaction to Anouska has a lot to do with her Sun sign. It’s hard to analyse the eviction patterns because they are dominated by reactions to Anouska, and in a situation like Friday night, when someone is under pressure, the Sun sign isn’t necessarily to the fore – people under serious stress tend to emphasise their Ascendant, the persona, and if they’re in real trouble their Shadow sign (the sign of Saturn) kicks in, and its worst characteristics come to the fore.

Scorpio isn’t really known for being a loud and extrovert sign – water signs tend to be watchful and bide their time – so I suspect some excitable Sagittarius, talkative Gemini or a touch of the look-at-me Leos elsewhere in her chart. More on that later, but If Anouska survives the vote I think we’ll see her calm down and discard the loud persona.

My second one-to-watch is Taurean Jon and Federico, whose Sun is in Aries. I can see the Glaswegian Ram challenging this guarded, watchful Bull early on – if they stay in long enough. Jon seems to be adopting a typical Taurean watch-and-wait strategy so far, but a brash Arian challenge could force him into showing his hand.

Federico’s immediate reaction to Jon was to feel he ‘couldn’t relate to him’ and astrologically speaking, he was spot on – Aries and Taurus have neither an element nor a triplicity in common. However, this could change if they get the chance to get to know each other. Aries and Taurus are adjacent signs and it’s not unusual for other planets – usually Mercury, Venus and Mars – to hang out in adjacent signs (ie Federico could have these planets in Taurus and Jon in Aries). This would moderate their relationship, as would Federico having the Moon in an earth sign (or Jon in a fire sign).

So there’s the first zodiac round-up of BB4. Although I’m still not sure what’s going on with Cameron’s apple. Maybe he’s waiting for a Sagittarian centaur to crash through the front door and put an arrow through it? Start humming the William Tell overture now.
