Facebook's newsfeed has been transformed into 3D as part of a new project by Korean electronics firm LG.LG, the maker of 3D television sets, commissioned creative agency Perfect Fools to develop new ways to show that "the best things in life are even better in 3D".

As part of the resulting LG 3D Studio project, Perfect Fools created an app that enables viewers to see their Facebook newsfeed in three dimensions on a television set.
The system can be used with a 3D screen, but works better with a 3D display, said LG.
Available via Lg3dstudio.com, the application works with various elements of the newsfeed, including how posts are displayed, navigation, depth, movement, colours, 'likes' and content representation.

The '3D Newsfeed' - the first in a series of LG 3D Studio creations - was trialled among a select group of Facebook users in Amsterdam, where Perfect Fools is based.
Watch the below LG-produced video featuring their reactions:
Michael Aneto, head of strategic planning at Perfect Fools, said: "We chose Facebook for the first experiment to make a statement with something universal, loved and fun.
"The point of the experiments is to stimulate conversation and imagination so eventually when the target audience think of 3D, they think LG."

LG has championed 'passive' 3D technology, which uses cheaper glasses in comparison to 'active' 3D sets. This is why the system is also used in cinemas and pubs.
Rival firm Panasonic is currently trialling its 'active' Full HD 3D Smart television system at the London 2012 Games, including the production of more than 100 hours of 3G coverage of the sporting showpiece.

LG seems to be moving really fast with their technology. With new stuff like this and the soon to come out OLED TV up their sleeves, Samsung's sure to have a hard time catching up. I'm still waiting for my 3D Skype though, don't really care that much about Facebook.
