The Kindle Fire, with 7-inch 1024 x 600p resolution display and 8GB of internal storage, was released in the US last November. A second generation model of the tablet is rumoured for release in the territory in 2012.
Both UK retailers also listed a mystery Apple product for release before Christmas, expected to be either the next iPhone or the iPad Mini. Apple's rumoured budget tablet will likely bring stiff competition to the Kindle Fire range when it lands on the market.
Google's upcoming Nexus 7 tablet will also be in direct competition with the device, given that it is aimed at the same end of the market.
Amazon is yet to officially confirm plans for a UK release of the Kindle Fire.

It's only taken them 13 months since the US release. OK, so it's going to be Kindle Fire 2, but still way too late. Like the Touch they left it a long time after the US release. To the point most ordered it from the US. Amazon as usual you've missed the boat.

Not only have they missed the boat, they've missed the war. Sorry Amazon, MUCH too late.

I couldn't agree more, I was all exciting to get a Kindle Fire but as with the other products (the original kindle) they wait too long to release over here and I was excited to get one but now with the announcement of the Nexus 7 I couldn't care less about the Kindle Fire.
More than anything was the not even mentioning anything at all about a UK release even though they kept getting asked, so Nexus 7 it is..........................

Can't see the point of the Kindle Fire over here without the Amazon Cloud Player, downloadable movies and TV Shows etc. Remember, the Fire is mostly a consumption device and with no content it's only source would be Kindle eBooks which we already have readers for. Apple's devices wouldn't be as much use without iTunes and similarly the Fire is just a colour Kindle without the Amazon video services and app store and so on.
