Archos' 97 Carbon Android tablet is encased in aluminium, measuring in at 11.4mm thick and weighing just 618 grams. Its 9.7" 5x Multi-Touch Screen with IPS technology is tailored for displaying vivid colours and wide angles.
The slate is also equipped with front and rear cameras, 16GB of internal flash memory, and microSD and USB support for expanding its memory.
Running Google's own Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the device is fully supported by the Google Play store, giving users access to more than 600,00 apps.
Archos founder and CEO Henri Crohas said: "We wanted to introduce a new series that not only combines affordability with a new slim design, but features the best that Google has to offer.
"With the Elements series we have done just that. It's the perfect balance of hardware, software optimisation and content through the Google Play ecosystem."
The Archos 97 Carbon tablet will be released later this month, priced at £219.99.

I had an Archos product a few years ago and it was the best gadget I purchased. Costing me around £400 for this little handheld portable multimedia device that could read multiable codec's without a problem. Just never forgot how heavy it was to carry around on the underground commuting to work. The battery was neat and quick to charge. I cannot see why not they would want to VS google but they have hard work.

Archos is a joke! Sold these at work, people would buy them and return them within a few hours either because they didn't work or because they didn't go basic things like You Tube (despite running Android).
