Apple's iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS will not be compatible with several key features of iOS 6.The previous generation handsets will not support turn-by-turn navigation or 3D flyover functionality in the Maps application, or be able to run Facetime over a 3G connection.

iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and third-generation iPad devices will be fully compatible with all of the features of Apple's forthcoming mobile operating system.
iOS 6 was unveiled during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this week. One of the biggest talking points of the evening was the inclusion of Maps, which sees new battle lines drawn between Apple and Google.
The TomTom-powered service will replace Google Maps as the pre-installed mapping application on iOS devices, a significant blow for the search engine giant.
iOS 6 will be rolled out in the autumn.

If I am not mistaken the iPad 2 doesn't have a GPS chip as standard so how is it going to manage navigation at that accuracy level and speed using only 3g as a guide

PS the Jailbroken FaceTime over 3G seems to be jerkier and has delayed movement compared to the iOS6 (two 4S 's tested side by side, same network)

To be far, iOS 6 is still in beta, so it's gonna be jerky on whatever device it's running on.

I wonder why digital spy doesn't have an edit button yet.

The 3D mapping is pretty slow and jerky on the 4S so i can see why that is limited. I wouldn't expect Apple to support 2 year old + devices in an OS designed for a phone thats about to released. Daft to think otherwise. New Apps will be available on the 5.11 OS for a long time. Most apps are still supporting 4.0.
