Three clamping down on heavy data users

The service provider claims that at certain times, 5% of its customers are using up 60% of its bandwidth through activities such as downloading high definition videos.
Three has launched an initiative called TrafficSense to ensure that data is distributed more equally, and is trialling the system during peak times.
"As with other internet networks, if we don't ensure a fair balance, a small number of customers can end up using a very large proportion of what is ultimately a shared resource," a Three spokesperson told T3.
"TrafficSense ensures we can share the resource fairly and that the activity levels of a small group does not unduly impact the experience of other users."

TrafficSense will identify Three's highest data users each month and then allocate them a managed capacity for the next seven days.
The company explained: "As an example, if you regularly stream a lot of high definition video between 3pm and 12am relative to most users, TrafficSense may identify you as a high data user and manage your data traffic for a period of seven days.
"This means some services will appear to run more slowly during peak times within that period."

So basically the 'All you can eat' package is a load of bollox in reality...if i want to watch hi def video on my hi def phone on my all you can eat package then i should...what they seem to have done is the same as virgin, get the customers and promise them great things for a fixed price then screw them once they subscribe.
I've been with 3 since the start but the past few days [since Friday] i have had no signal on my phone apart from emergency only calls and to use it outside of the wifi i have to go out of the area...
And no i am not in some village that shares the local shop with grazing cows i am in the middle of Leeds.
After reading this though i will just stick to the normal top up and free bandwidth instead...last year i paid the £5 for the 1 month unlimited add on and that had it capped at 2 gig...unlimited is by definition without limit or boundaries so capping it at 2 gig is the total reverse of what they were advertising and selling.
Needless to say i never got it again.

what 3 does not say is those throttled get less than dial up of 12 years ago, 20 to 11kbps
= no service at all
TrafficSense is a fair use policy in disguise, the 5% is totally dynamic, it may be 100GB in one area, 300meg in another.
There is no pior warning of being throttled
Google "three throttling" and the twitter #allyoucannibble and FB page AllYouCanNibble

I agree with Kieran Byrne. You can't offer something and then complain about people using it. If you're going to give people unlimited data, facilitate yourself for it.
