Fitted with the latest Rev9 software release, the remote control incorporates AV controls and source control to offer more options to Sky TV users.
The chip inside is double the size of previous models and the device is compatible with 727 different TV brands and models.
The chief benefit of the remote control is that it can work for both the television and the Sky+ box, meaning there is no need to have two remotes.
A master power on/off switch turns off the TV and Sky box at the same time, while the battery life is said to be "significantly increased" on two Duracell AA batteries (which are included).
Sky and One For All have also created a website for Sky customers to look up remote control codes to ensure the device works with their Sky box and TV.
Available from mid-May, the Jubilee Remote will cost £29.99 at Argos, Sainsbury's and Asda, or £24.99 from sky.com/accessories.

Well, at least if you have burglars, they might take your box but you'll certainly still have your remote.

"The chief benefit of the remote control is that it can work for both the television and the Sky+ box, meaning there is no need to have two remotes." Sky remotes have been able to do this since they came out in 1998. Not really a new thing.

They don't work for all TV sets however, as my Sky+ remote control doesn't work with my Samsung LED TV, to adjust the volume, for example, I'd have to use the TV remote control rather than the Sky remote control
