Tim Craven I was a little surprised at the "you have to pay the entirety of the phone up front and that's £450!!" double exclamation mark - of course, if you do your homework right, it can sometimes work out cheaper than contract. Depends on contract requirements. Got out of the contract game a few years back when I purchased an N97 and I much prefer doing it like that and not being tied into a contract. 9 times out of 10, the unlocked sim-free mobiles should be updated first.
